Town of Pittsford Commendation

The topic for our August 6th joint meeting with the Rochester Garden Club was "healthy yards." Bill Smith, Town of Pittsford Supervisor, surprised us with his attendance. He gave an eloquent testimonial about the healing power of being in nature and presented beautifully worded commendations to our two clubs for our century of leadership in environmental matters. We learned from Supervisor Smith that the Town of Pittsford uses in total for the entire town an equivalent amount of pesticides as what would be typically used on an individual 1/2 acre home site.

The Allyn’s Creek Garden Club was privileged to have a presentation on local recycling at our November General Meeting by Meagan Evans-Saurini, Environmental Educator for Monroe County Department of Environmental Services.
