History of the Club

The Allyn’s Creek Garden Club was founded on a Monday afternoon in November 1928, when Mrs. John W. Force invited a group of ladies to meet at her home to discuss the possibility of forming a garden club from among the residents of Brighton. The Charter Members of the club, including Mrs. Force, who became the first club Chairman, named the club after Captain Timothy Allyn, who settled in the Town of Brighton around 1790. The creek that flowed through his 500 acres also bears his name. The Allyn’s Creek Garden Club is a member of the Garden Club of America. The Club is also a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, Inc.

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Club is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening; to aid in the protection of native plants and birds; and to study, in all its aspects, the fine art of gardening.

The Allyn’s Creek Garden Club is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
