Community Projects



Each year, the Club undertakes several projects, either by providing funding or through active volunteering, or both.

·     

Current projects include:

- Student scholarships at Green Visions, a workforce program run by Greentopia
- Caring for the over 100 trees and bushes planted at Braddock Bay Bird Observatory 
- Hands-on and financial commitment to the landscape and maintenance of Landmark Society’s Stone Tolan House and Museum (Rochester’s oldest area house)

2000: Monroe Community Hospital - Alzheimer's Memory Garden

2002-2015: Brighton's Twelve Corners Triangle - flower baskets & High School Student
          Conservation Award
2003: East Avenue at 490 (at the "Can of Worms") - in partnership with the Town of Brighton, 
          planting of 75 trees, for the Club's 75th Anniversary
2005: Braddock Bay Bird Observatory - funding for land purchase
2006: The Strong National Museum of Play Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden - plantings
2007-2014: Town of Brighton's historic 1820 Buckland Farmhouse - landscaping
2007: Village of Pittsford, North Main Street / Washington Road - landscaping
2011: Braddock Bay Bird Observatory - planting of over 100 trees and bushes for 
          GCA 2013 Centennial Trees
2013: The Garden Aerial Project - plantings
2015: George Eastman Museum - "In the Garden" exhibit during GCA Annual Meeting,
           held in Rochester 
2016: Green Visions - student scholarship

2017: Green Visions - purchase of shipping container for use as storage
2017: The Nature Conservancy - signage on Rob Van der Stricht trail

In addition to donations by members, the Club organizes frequent fundraisers to help support its community projects. Recent events have included:
